Mobile Instrument Repair was established in April of 1959 as a vision of the late Lawrence Gamotis to provide marine and surveying instrument repair along with magnetic compass calibration. Lawrence was a skilled craftsman with a strong work ethic who was able to grow the business quickly from his humble beginnings in his garage to a building located on Conception Street in Mobile, AL. Lawrence’s son, Jerry, took over the company in 1983 and further enlarged the scope of the company to include construction lasers and machine control. To more accurately reflect the far reaching capability of its operations, the company name was changed to Mobile Instrument. In 1995 due to the growth of the company, the company moved to its current location on Lakeside Drive. Today Mobile Instrument provides wide range of calibration and repair services along with offering the latest technology in the survey and laser markets. Our calibration and repair services are certified to ISO 9001:2008 along with complying with ANSI/NCSL Z540.1 specifications.
