Thoma-Sea awarded $15.7 million Driftmaster replacement contract

Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors LLC, Lockport, La., has been awarded a $15,778,147 firm-fixed-price contract to acquire a new diesel electric-hybrid vessel for the New York District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The vessel that will be used by the district in support of its drift collection and emergency response missions and will replace the current the DCV Driftmaster, which is used in the New York and New Jersey harbor to removes debris and obstructions from high use navigation channels (see earlier story).

Bids were solicited via the internet with two received. Work will be performed in Houma, Louisiana, with an estimated completion date of Feb. 28, 2023. Fiscal 2021 revolving funds in the amount of $15,778,147 were obligated at the time of the award. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is the contracting activity (W912BU-21-C-0012).
